Fiction Adaptation: Costume Design

Costume design in this project isn't as important as in other projects, however I had a few thoughts I wanted to note down.

COSTUME DESIGN

Son/boy:

For the boy, I want to ensure his character only wears dark/grey colours, and no bright colours. The film is supposed to have a scary tone, and I feel bright colours will not work for this. Darker colours will help connote the dark, fearful feeling the film is intended to have.

Creepy figure:

I want the creepy figure to also dress in dark colours, to add some mystery. Every inch of skin needs to be covered in black clothing so the audience can't see any details about this character. I want him to wear a pair of large boots, like hiking boots, or builders boots. This will give the character a heavy feel. His footsteps should create a sound with big boots, but he is actually very silent, and the boy in the car never hears him coming. He will also wear black jeans, a black jacket with the hood up, and black gloves. He will also have his face wrapped up in a black scarf so the audience, and his victims can't see his face. And finally I want him to carry a heavy hammer, which is his murder weapon. It shows he likes to kill his victims in a brutal manner with a few hits to the head.
