GREEN SCREEN RESEARCH
I love Film Riot, they literally have a video for everything!
Here is what I learnt from this video:
- Green works better for digital cameras, as they are more sensitive to green as a colour channel.
- You need to evenly light your green screen.
- Use waveform and zebra on the camera to see where hotspots are to help balance the lighting on the screen.
- It's a good idea to light your screen with white LED lights, and to light your talent with tungsten balanced lights, as this helps to separate your talent from the background.
- Set a high shutter on the camera to avoid serious motion blur. (maybe 70 or 80)
- Use a low ISO to avoid image noise.
- To key out the green, use Keylight in After Effects.
- To help clean the image up you can use an alpha track matte, as well as the matte choker, spill suppressor, light wrap and colour grading.
I will keep all these things in mind when we shoot and edit our green screen segments.
